Many people say that music has always been in their veins but only a select few have the musical pedigree of Carl Riseley. Having first started studying music at the age of 4, Carl has enjoyed a range of extraordinary experiences in a relatively short amount of time. Carl entered The Royal Australian Navy band in April 2003 and during his time in the Navy performed all over the globe, including a deployment to the Solomon Islands, and performances on New Years Eve in 2004 & 2005 in Iraq.
"Watching our Australian troops edge a smile on their face while forgetting about what they were involved in, even if it was just for an hour as we played for them - was one of the best moments in my life." From one pressure cooker situation to another and by his own admission as the result of a lost bet, Carl found himself on Australian Idol but where many had failed before him by trying to "fit the mold"; Carl stayed true to his love of jazz and swung his way all the way throughout the competition. This love resonated with both the public and judges alike and the rest as they say is history. Carl's debut record "The Rise" reached number 5 on the ARIA Charts in its first week. Carl is currently playing to sell out houses around the country and is planning a follow up release early in 2009. 2009 saw Carl release his second album, 'The Stillest Hour', which held #1 in the ARIA Jazz charts for several weeks. A busy year all round with sevral sell out tours, Carl also joined Kate Ceberano on the road for her 25 Live tour.
