STANDARD PUBLISHING

Ralph Carr’s Standard Music Publishing was established in 1994 to offer songwriters the same hands-on support and attention to detail that had been available to RCM's management clients over a stunning 25 year career.

The results have been outstanding, and Standard Music Publishing is one of the most high-profile independent publishers in Australia. Standard Music Publishing has been highly awarded by the Australian Songwriter’s Association and APRA (Australian Performing Rights Association), winning prestigious APRA Awards over the past few years, including:

  • Song of the Year for Tina Arena's “Wasn't It Good” in 1996;

  • Most Performed Work in 2001 for the Vanessa Amorosi track “Shine”;

  • Two final nominations for the Most Played award for track’s “Desensitized” and “Say You Do”.

Standard Music Publishing has a growing reputation overseas. It has a track on Jo Dee Messina’s album “Burn”, which Jo Dee took to number three on the Billboard US Country Charts. Standard Music also won an ASCAP Award (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publisher) for the song's success in the United States.

Standard Music’s songwriters have written and co-written songs that appear on releases by many of Australia's best-known acts, including: Vanessa Amorosi, Human Nature, Tina Arena, Rick Price, Deni Hines, Vika and Linda Bull, Paul Kelly and The Seekers. They’ve also contributed to songs with prominent international acts, such as Terri Clark, Wynnona, Jo Dee Messina and Michael English - all of whom have sold in excess of one million records in the US market. Laura Pausini is another celebrated overseas act to use songs written by Standard Music’s writers. Laura has sold more than 10 million albums and had a number one hit with “If That's Love” on the Billboard Dance Charts.
